About Daniel Friedman, MD, MSc
Daniel Friedman, MD, MSc is a Professor (Clinical) of Neurology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He was recently named the Director of the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center after serving as the Associate Director. Dr. Friedman completed his MD at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, neurology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and an epilepsy fellowship at Columbia University. He specializes in the treatment of teenagers and adults with difficult-to-control epilepsy. His research focuses on novel treatments and diagnostic tools for epilepsy, biomarkers for epilepsy surgery outcomes, and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). He is the principal investigator of several NIH and CDC-funded studies and an investigator for industry-funded studies. He has over 160 peer-reviewed papers and several book chapters. Dr. Friedman has received numerous honors and awards, including the Dreifuss-Penry Award for Epilepsy Research from the American Academy of Neurology. He serves on committees for the American Epilepsy Society and the International League Against Epilepsy and is the vice president of the Epilepsy Study Consortium.
